June 2015 Community Fair & Picnic
Saturday 20th June 2015
As in previous year’s, the event was organised by the Friends of Blakers Park and run in association with Stanford Avenue Methodist Church. It was wonderful to meet up with friends, family and neighbours, listen to some music from Varndean Samba Band and The DB’s and to just enjoy the day.
Our thanks to the charity stallholders Brighton Breast Cancer Support Group, The British Red Cross, The East Africa Children’s Project, Dolphin House, The Rotary Club of Brighton, Brighton & Hove Montessori School, Stanford and Cleveland Community Garden, Count the Kicks, Orchid (Male Cancer Charity) and the Adur Special Needs Project.
We also welcomed Jennie, Fiona, Alice, Elaine, Claire and Bridget with their various bric a brac, toy, mosaic, handmade crafts and candle stalls.Tom was there from Crust Sandwiches, Amanda and friends from Cook at Home 4U with their delicious paellas, Kristina from The Pamper Pod, the team from Miranda’s Plants and East Sussex Fire & Rescue.
Thanks also to Tilt Coffee and Duncan at Patchfest for letting us use their gazebos.
Our special thanks to the many Fiveways, Hollingbury and Portland Road business who generously contributed prizes and vouchers for our fundraising raffle. They were Beaumonts, Preloved, David & Co, Quaff ,Hop & Vine, Tilt Coffee, Living at Fiveways, Wigwam Toys, Lark on Lowther, Petshed, Barfield Butchers, Fiveways Fruits, North Village, Savery Books, 259 Gifts Plants & Cards, Salon 206 and the Good Food Shop Portland Road Hove, New Dawn in Havelock Road and Preston Insurance Brokers in Hollingbury Place.
We would also like to thank everyone who came along to help set up and take down the equipment, helped us to clear away and all those who supervised children’s games.
